Bela (Resident Evil 8: Village) | photos by @yinphoto

Bela was my first foray into distressing and weathering — she was made in ~1 week and features three layers of flatlined fabric (for my first “fitted” garment) and beautifully weathered and applied gore to fabrics and props. She is also a featured project in the Cosplay Fabrix FX book to teach blood + weathering applications.

Costume Information

Garment

The dress was a pattern using Sewist as a base but altered to fit my exact proportions, featuring layers of poly taffeta, lace, and chiffon flatlined together. The hood was custom drafted, and details included pleated fabric and lace were added at the neckline. The entire outfit + boots were weathered with artistic gel + acrylics, fake blood, Mehron weathering powders, and glued plastic flies.

Props

I assembled the necklace set and weathered all pieces with rub n’ buff and black washes of acrylic; the same process applies to the sickle, which also has a leather wrapped handle.
