Howl was a “speedy” build, finished over a month, to match several Sophie cosplayers. Almost everything on this costume was stashbusted or picked up in sales. The jacket consists of real silk dupioni from Fabric Wholesale Direct with lace appliques and a rayon challis liner, while the shirt is a lurex/linen blend with polyester brocade ruffles from Mood Fabrics. The sashes are a polyester chiffon and polyester jacquard, stashbusted. The belt is bought, and jewelry was resin cast.

The Shirt | The shirt was sewn as patterned, shortened, and taken in for an AFAB body. The cuffs are finished with faux pearl buttons that close with tiny snaps for ease of wear. To further customize the fabric, the ruffles include gold fabric foiling across them, as well as a scatter of hotfix AB, pink, and blue crystals.

The Coat | The coat was sewn as the pattern says, though shortened for a petite frame. Each individual diamond was ombre dyed by hand and includes gold soutache and hotfix AB crystal gems at the interections. The back featured a couple of gold lace appliques cut apart and re-pieced by hand to fit the coat. The ends are finished with gold satin bias tape.

The Sashes | The sashes are essentially one large waist piece with two separate tails sewn on the inside and flipped outwards. Both the pink and blue tails were ombre dyed with RIT Dyemore. Edges were finished using ban-rol with beaded trim sewn on from Mood. The back closes with elastic.

The Jewelry | The necklace and earrings were both resin cast with Alumilite epoxy resin using crystal-shaped silicone molds for pendants. They include alcohol ink for dyeing as well as colored foils, glass stones, and a bit of glitter. All findings were installed by hand, and the necklace has a magnetic clasp.
