Astarion - Early Access (Baldur’s Gate 3) | photos by @allisonthephotographer

Costume Information
Goal + Materials
The Goal | I too was infected by Astarion fever, and I decided to spend a few weeks making this man as a result! I wanted something quick and easy to wear for guesting gigs, and after having a lot of fun in his casual outfit, I decided to go with the whole fit.
Materials | The entire ensemble was made of as many natural, cooling fiber as possible. I used real apparel leather for the vest and real suede for the knee cover from Mood and Tandy, tropical wool for the pants, and linen and silk matka for the sleeves. All cords, buttons, and trims are from Mood Fabrics.
Daggers
The daggers were 3D printed and finished to 400 grit before being painted with the Vallejo Metal Colors line. The grips are wrapped with faux leather and painted with acrylics before being glued into place.
Vest/Shirt
The Vest | The vest is self-patterned and features 3 types of garment leather: one for the side panels, which was stained from white to black; one for the center panels; and then the bottom and backs were pieced from scraps. All ‘damage’ was embraced and darned to create a hand-repaired look. The front features metallic machine embroidery on mesh weathered down, and it closes with a back zipper so the front buttons would always sit nicely.
The ‘Shirt’ | The shirt is actually just linen sleeves with a self-drafted ‘paned’ top sleeve from silk matka on top that are tied once the costume is on. All 24 ‘pane’ cutouts are finished with facings and topstitched. All lace was also tea-stained and uses Dirty Down to look more worn.
Pants/Leg Covers
The Pants | Altered commercial pants pattern (added crotch/butt room and higher rise) with functional pockets.
Knee Covers | Real suede and leather that snaps onto the pants, two separate pieces, and weathered with acrylics.
